The Long Island Board of REALTORS® Suffolk North Shore Chapter (SNSC) recently presented a $13,000 donation to the Sunrise Fund’s School Intervention and Re-entry Program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
The funds were raised at the Chapter’s 3rd Annual School DAYZ Fashion Show and Dinner that was held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook. The event helped raise awareness about childhood cancer in our community and benefit the Sunrise Fund’s School Intervention and Re-entry Program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. The Intervention and Re-entry Program, the only one of its kind on Long Island, helps children and young adults diagnosed with cancer make a smooth transition back into the classroom. By coordinating faculty meetings “to educate the educators” about the medical, psychosocial and educational needs of children diagnosed with cancer, the multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, educators and child life specialists collaborate to develop an educational plan that best meet the needs of the child. The Chapter has raised a total of $46,000 for the Sunrise Fund to date.
